Puddingstone Lake/Reservoir

Today we are trying Puddingstone. All these years I have been in California and this is the first time I have actually been out on the lake. Take a look at today's journey.

Today's destination: Puddingstone Reservoir

On our way to Bonelli Park to go to Puddingstone. Here's the new road they made by the Silverwood Airport. We're coming up in the world.

Bonelli Park.

Very pretty scenery.

You do have to share the road on the way down.

Perfect day!

And we're off!

Puddingstone has some really pretty shorelines and quite a few picnic areas. We paddled around the lake almost all the way around. We didn't go by the spillways. The rocks on the shoreline were pretty cool to paddle around.

Around this corner is East Shore RV Park.

We're headed up to this picnic area to have lunch.

Not a bad spot, pretty empty and there's a dock. There were a few bees trying to interrupt us but nothing we couldn't handle.

Dorks...

We spent a little bit of time at our lunch spot.

Not sure what this was, but it was cool.

The water was warm and the sun was hot, even though there was a slight haze today.

Relaxing...

The dock...

Paths around the lake...

Geese, sandpipers, ducks, and mudhens...

Back to the other side...

This is so serene compared to the other side of the lake.

Like glass!

Can you see the turtle?

Catamaran (my word for it)...a great way to just floating and relax.

Double Selfie!

Saw an Egret.

Found a little brown frog...this lady picked up the frog everytime she tried to send it on its way back in the water, the little frog kept swimming back to her hand, it was hilarious! I wouldn't pick it up, I didn't want to get a wart, lol.

That is me in the glassy water...

I don't know if you can tell but I am laying back relaxing. There is no currant so I could just stay in one spot for a while if I wanted to.

I love this place.

Another end to an awesome adventure. Until we paddle again...

Silverwood Lake

Kayak Vacation 2013
This year we started off at Silverwood Lake in the beautiful High Desert. Just 15 minutes from the 15 freeway off the 138.

All packed up!

Nice day to go paddling!

Here it is...Silverwood Lake. Beautiful scenery and close to home. They only charged $10 and that covered the entire day, parking, and boat inspection. The attendant at the gate was very helpful and informative.

We stayed in the lower part of the lake in the 5 mph area down by the marina.
Its much safer here for paddlers. There are many areas to find a
secluded little piece of beach to have lunch and take some photos.

Great spot! Parking is awesome in the early morning hours on a weekday. Not too many people around until after noon. Just a few fisherman on the dock.

Excellent parking right next to the lake. We got there early in the morning.
The lake opens at 6AM, but since it was a weekday there were no lines.

Getting unloaded and ready to get in the water. Not one other car in the lot. This is my kind of vacation!

Taking a little breather after carrying the kayaks down to the water. Contemplating which way we want to get started in. Either way, the whole area is priceless.

Finally...what a great day to kayak. I packed a lunch. The water is so nice today. It's exciting everytime we get in the water for the first time.

The water is so clear here in this location. You can see every bit of seaweed. Eeww.

This is how I roll...lol

I love early morning on the Lake. Just the ducks and us.

Husband is pretty far ahead of me, but that is fine, we always end up in the same place.

Having an awesome relaxing day.

There are no boats around so it is pretty quiet.

Wow, our own little beach!

This is the more southern part of the marina where the water to get here was a little green and choppier at times from the wind. We were able to find a nice little private beach to have lunch.

What a great day.

Here is a picture of the little beach we found.

Ducks...

We had some lunch guests. Of course they were so cute we couldn't resist.

Getting ready to pack up and get back out on the water.

Back on the lake

We had the best time exploring this lake and all the little coves.

Floating and relaxing.

Awesome!!!

At the end of the day I have to say this was a great
place to kayak and spend some relaxing time.
Stay tuned for our next adventure...
